Gardening

A few weeks ago, we went over to help Granny plant her new garden. Luckily, Dave slept through most of it, because it is likely that he would have done more hindering than helping!. Alexis was very helpful, though.

Here is Alexis supervising the snails and tadpoles that we bought to go in Granny's pond. The snails were named Pokey and Slowski, and the tadpoles were named Hoppy, Biggie, and Roo (as in kangaroo).

Enjoying the Nice Weather

Alexis and Dave have been spending a lot of time outside, enjoying the nice weather. Here they are straining the sand in the sandbox, looking for some of the treasure that Uncle Scott buried.

Dave has to taste everything...

Alexis likes to walk the perimeter of the garden and check out all of the plants...

Grandpa and Alexis always look to see how big the pumpkin plants are growing...

The bird feeders are all filled up... with one or two stray seeds on the ground!

Pool Time

Alexis and Dave are all ready for swimsuit season!

Last Day of Preschool and Ice Cream Social

Last week was Alexis' last day of junior preschool, and also her Spring Sing and Ice Cream Social. All of the kids made an ice cream cone shirt, and they sang a bunch of songs for all of the parents. It was a great show!

After the show, everyone had some ice cream!

Alexis is looking forward to Senior Preschool next year, when she will get to go three times a week instead of just twice. She is getting to be such a big girl!

Pretty Girl and Noisy Boy

Here is Alexis looking cute as can be in her new pink dress.
She just loves to wear dresses!

Here is Dave being as loud as possible... whenever he goes to my parents' house, he heads right for the pots and pans cabinet, grabs his favorite metal lid, and scrapes it back and forth over the tile as loudly as possible... then he looks up at everyone and smiles and waits for someone to finally get sick of it and take it away. Noisy boy!!

Flat Cat

Poor Max... he is going to be a flat cat because Dave lays on top of him and crawls right over him all the time. I guess it is his own fault for being too dumb to move out of the way, though. He is a very good cat for taking so much abuse and always coming back for more!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

Attempt #1 at a photo with both kids... Dave of course is trying to escape.

This is our best out of twenty shots...

Alexis made me this flower in preschool!

My other present from Alexis... I noticed her picking leaves off of Granny's tree today, but didn't think twice about it. Well it turns out that she secretly stuffed her jacket pockets full of leaves, brought them home, found two tupperware containers, filled them with leaves, took them upstairs and found a gift bag and a gift box, and wrapped them up for me as a present. That is quite the secret project for a four year old! Another 15 years and she will be using her skills to sneak booze past us!

Mother's Day Interview 2010

Last year I interviewed Alexis for Mother's Day, and it was so entertaining that I decided to make it an annual thing. Here are her four year old answers:

I like when you “Get cookies and cakes”.

Mommy is as pretty as “A flower”.

Mommy is special because she “Lights candles sometimes.”

I want to tell my Mommy that “If I'm good, I get to stay up late!”

My Mommy is best at “Taking care of people, like Dave”.

I make my Mommy smile by “I make presents and make a cake for you”. (Note: Alexis is always wrapping up things for me and Cort... what I do not love is when the 'present' is a gift bag full of all her socks, unfolded, that I recently laundered and folded!)

What makes Mommy sad? When Dave touches things that he can't touch.” (Note: This must mean that I am sad about ten thousand times a day.)

How tall is Mommy? “30.”

What does Mommy do when you are not home? “Do stuff by yourself, like clean the house.” (Note: Sadly, this is very accurate.)

What is your Mommy’s job? “You go on the computer.” (Funny, I don't really know any other way to describe it either!)

What is Mommy’s favorite food? “Pizza.” (YES, this kid knows me!!)

How do you know that Mommy loves you? “Because you turn the TV on for me.”

What is something Mommy always says to you? “Clean up!” (So true)

What does Mommy do to make you laugh? “Tickle me.”

What was Mommy like as a kid? “A doll.”

Do you think Mommy is smart? “Yes.”

What does Mommy smell like? “A flower” (This is an improvement from last year, where she said I smelled like poop.)

What does Mommy look like in the morning? "An egg.” (Last year she said a tree... I think this is a confusing question for her.)

What is Mommy’s favorite place to go? “Walmart.”

What is Mommy NOT good at? "Reaching really high." (Thank goodness for Daddy and his long arms)
